Rugby League Jersey Swaps

National Rugby League (Concept)

Project Overview

Rugby League Jersey Swaps is an ongoing personal project that began in 2014 and gained significant traction through 2019 and into the 2020 NRL season, focusing on visualising player transfers, representative selections, and key moments such as State of Origin and international tests.

The Brief

The project was self-initiated with the goal of creating engaging social media visuals that showcased players in new club or representative jerseys, capitalising on the interest and speculation surrounding signing periods and major rugby league events.

My Role

I worked as the sole designer, responsible for concept development, execution, and ongoing content creation across multiple seasons.

The Approach

The approach focused on realism and immediacy, creating clean, believable jersey swaps that allowed fans to visualise players in new environments, with an emphasis on accuracy, consistency, and speed to remain relevant during high-interest periods.

Selected Outcomes

The project produced a large body of social media content spanning multiple seasons, including player transfers, State of Origin selections, and international fixtures.

Outcomes

The series became widely successful across social media, driven by fan interest in new signings and representative teams, with the visuals regularly shared and discussed within rugby league communities.

Reflection

This project reinforced the importance of timing, relevance, and execution in social content, highlighting how well-crafted visuals aligned with fan interest can drive strong organic engagement over an extended period.
