My Raps Design

Toronto Raptors

Project Overview

MyRapsDesign was a fan-driven design contest created by the Toronto Raptors, aimed at engaging the fanbase through the creation of official gameday graphics. This personal project involved submitting artwork across multiple entry windows throughout the season, exploring different creative directions for each opportunity while contributing to a broader fan-led content initiative.

The Brief

The brief was to design original gameday social media tiles that aligned with the contest requirements, with a focus on creativity, originality, and relevance to each specific matchup. Submissions needed to comply with competition guidelines while standing out among other fan entries, with finalists selected and a winning design chosen for official recognition.

My Role

I worked independently across the project, developing and submitting multiple entries, taking full ownership of concept development, creative direction, and execution for each design.

The Approach

The approach focused on creating a unique concept for each submission, often drawing from contextual elements such as the opposing team, the location of the game, or narrative themes tied to the season. Rather than relying on a single style, the work explored a range of visual directions across eleven different tiles, including compositing and illustration, to push variety while maintaining a high standard of execution.

Selected Outcomes

The project resulted in a series of eleven gameday social tiles, each designed as a standalone concept, showcasing a range of styles and approaches within a consistent competitive framework.

Outcomes

One of the submissions was selected as a winning entry for a road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, demonstrating the effectiveness of the concept and execution within a competitive field and achieving official recognition within the campaign.

Reflection

This project reinforced the importance of originality and adaptability when working within set constraints, highlighting how varied creative direction and strong compositing can differentiate work in competitive, high-volume environments.
