Cricket World Cup 19

International Cricket Council (Concept)

Project Overview

This personal project was created in 2019 to capture the excitement of the ICC Cricket World Cup held in England and Wales, exploring a conceptual poster direction that brought together key players and visual storytelling elements from across the tournament.

The Brief

As a self-initiated concept, the brief was to design an A4 poster that represented the global nature of the tournament by featuring a star player from each participating nation, alongside an alternative concept that focused solely on the World Cup trophy as the central visual.

My Role

I developed the concept and executed the final artwork, focusing on composition, player selection, and overall visual direction.

The Approach

The approach centred on creating a strong, cinematic composition by positioning players across a London bridge setting, with the host nation placed front and centre and the previous World Cup finalists featured behind, while a secondary concept isolated the trophy to create a more minimal, iconic visual.

Selected Outcomes

The project resulted in a series of poster concepts, with the primary A4 design and the trophy-focused variation forming the key outputs.

Outcomes

The concepts were well received upon release, with the trophy-focused artwork gaining particular traction and demonstrating the effectiveness of a simplified, iconic approach.

Reflection

This project reinforced the value of composition and hierarchy in poster design, particularly when balancing multiple subjects within a single visual while maintaining clarity and impact.
